A NEW college campus to help young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) into work has opened its doors.
Creating Tomorrow College (CTC) has opened its brand-new Rugby Campus, which aims to provide employment-focused education to young people.
The launch marks a major milestone in the college’s continuing growth across the Midlands, and its mission to support young adults with learning differences into sustainable employment, independence and meaningful futures.
Opening to learners in September, the Rugby Campus aims to give more young people and families access to personalised, employability-focused education and Supported Internship pathways.
The campus is located within information management services company Iron Mountain’s Rugby site, enabling learners to combine classroom-based education with hands-on work experience.
The official opening event welcomed learners, employers, schools, local authorities and community partners to celebrate the next stage of the college’s journey.
Guests heard personal stories from current and former learners before touring the new facilities and selected areas of the Iron Mountain site.
CTC Principal Gareth Ivett said: “Our new Rugby Campus represents far more than a new building. It reflects our commitment to ensuring more young people with learning differences can access ambitious, meaningful futures through specialist education and inclusive employment opportunities.
“We are incredibly proud of how far the college has come in just six years, and we are excited to continue building partnerships across Warwickshire to create opportunities for our learners.”
Young people aged 18-25 will take part in tailored study programmes alongside supported work placements, gaining practical insight into workplace routines, expectations and relationships.
CTC aims to directly address a significant employment gap. Only 4.8 per cent of adults with a learning disability are currently in paid work, despite more than 65 per cent expressing a desire to be employed.
The Rugby Campus builds on a partnership between Creating Tomorrow College and Iron Mountain that began in September 2024, with successful programmes already operating at Iron Mountain’s Lutterworth and Kettering sites.
At these locations, learners explore roles that match their strengths and interests while gaining confidence through workplace participation.
The collaboration has also positively influenced Iron Mountain’s workforce. Managers and supervisors supporting learners have strengthened their communication, mentoring and task-design skills, contributing to a more inclusive workplace culture.
Creating Tomorrow College’s Supported Internship programme currently achieves a 100% positive destination success rate, supporting learners into paid employment and long-term career opportunities.
The Ofsted Outstanding specialist employability college, which supports learners aged 18–25 with learning differences, has rapidly expanded since opening in 2020 with just 10 learners and two staff members.
Today, Creating Tomorrow College operates across Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, has achieved Outstanding in every area during its first full Ofsted inspection, and is recognised nationally for its innovative approaches to employment pathways and technology.
Applications for September 2026-27 at the Rugby Campus are now open for learners aged 18–25 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
