THE NEW Green Party candidate for Kenilworth and Southam is aiming to build on the party’s recent local success.
Coun Zoe Leventhal will stand as the constituency’s green party candidate at the next general election.
Zoe is currently deputy leader of the Green Group on Kenilworth Town Council and represents Abbey Ward.
Professionally, she is a leading barrister, practising in public law and human rights, with expertise in health and social care, climate change, planning, welfare rights, regulation, and discrimination.
The Green Party has achieved huge success in the traditionally Conservative seat of Kenilworth and Southam in local elections recently. The Greens have a majority on Kenilworth Town Council and are the largest party on Warwick District Council, leading WDC in a joint administration with Labour.
They are the only party in Kenilworth with councillors across all three tiers of local government.
Zoe said: “Now is the time to stand up and be counted. I will use my skills to represent us and our community. I will work collaboratively to make our communities fairer, greener and more connected. I will get residents the support they need to thrive and take action to protect our environment. I will be your strong voice for Kenilworth and Southam in Westminster, not Westminster’s voice in Kenilworth and Southam.”
John Dearing, chair of Warwick District Green Party, added: “We have seen a massive shift to the Green Party in the area over the last few years, because our clear values and positive approach resonate with people. We are visible, we listen and we take action on what matters.
“We want to build on this success, and we are delighted that we have a fantastically committed and highly qualified candidate for the upcoming election, whenever that may come. Zoe is a breath of fresh air for Kenilworth and Southam.”
