A KEEN photographer has snapped up first prize in Leamington in Bloom’s photographic competition.
David Chantry was awarded £50 for his entry entitled ‘Hidden Corner of Christchurch Gardens’.
The theme of this year’s competition was ‘hidden green gems’.
David received his prize at a reception at the town hall hosted by mayor Coun Alan Boad for all those involved in Leamington in Bloom.
As well as the photographic competition winners – who also included second placed John Nebu with ‘view from 64 Prospect Road’ and third prize winner Tim Nunan for ‘Beacon on Newbold Comyn’- there were representatives of pubs, shops, restaurants and other businesses with winning floral frontages.
Also present were the groups involved in attaining the recent Gold award from the Heart of England in Bloom Judges – Friends of Leamington Spa Station, Foundry Wood, Wych Elm Wood and the Good News Garden situated at the Dale Street Methodist Church. The town has been awarded Gold for seven consecutive years.
Coun Boad said: “How wonderful it is to see the towns’ people participating in the various activities that take place throughout the year and which make Leamington such an attractive place to live in and to visit.”
