PICTURE SPECIAL - Leamington remembers fallen heroes

HUNDREDS of people gathered at the War Memorial in Leamington to mark Remembrance Sunday and pay their respects to fallen heroes.

The ceremony was led by the Mayor’s Chaplain Father Stephen Parker and the Deputy Lieutenant Janet Bell-Smith, with the Mayor of Leamington Coun Nick Wilkins and Chair of Warwick District Council (WDC) Mini Mangat. Other dignitaries attended with representatives from the emergency services and local military and community organisations.

Mayor Coun Wilkins said: “It was humbling to see so many people paying their respects to the servicemen and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice at Armistice services on Sunday.

“It is such an important event to remember those who lost their lives so that we can enjoy freedom today. It was a moving experience and as Mayor of Leamington I was privileged to represent the townspeople to pay our joint respects to our fallen heroes.”
