A RIGHT royal knees up was had in Warwick district to celebrate the King’s Coronation – complete with typical British weather.

Millions of people across the country tuned in to watch King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday (May 6), with celebrations for the grand occasion lasting across the whole extended bank holiday weekend.

Big screens were set up for communities to gather to watch the historic event and miles of bunting was hung for street parties across the UK.

And right here in the district residents grabbed their own slice of the royal action.

At the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington a big screen was put up and there were activities running throughout the day for all the family.

Kenilworth Castle proved an appropriately royal setting for another big screening, while there was a Party in the Square and a Pageant Picnic in Warwick.

The rain failed to dampen the celebratory spirit with union flag brollies coming to the rescue of many.

Towns and villages including Kenilworth, Southam, Shrewley, Radford Semele and Kineton got in on the street party action.

Residents wheeled out the trestle tables and decked out their roads in patriotic splendor with cream teas, cuppas and pints aplenty – even the odd slice of Coronation quiche.
