Plans for huge solar farm between two south Warwickshire villages

Leamington Editorial 31st Aug, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A SOLAR farm roughly the size of 22 football pitches could be built on the doorstep of two south Warwickshire villages.

Luminous Energy Limited recently applied to Stratford District Council for a temporary 25 year permission to build the 16 hectare farm on land off the Fosse Way between Radford Semele and Harbury.

The site is currently used for sheep grazing and other agricultural purposes but the company say the farm has the potential to generate enough electricity to power around 2,500 homes.

The proposals are currently undergoing a period of public consultation and are likely to be considered sometime before the end of the year.

Residents have until mid-September to make their thoughts known on the district council’s planning website.
