Portrait exhibition comes to The Art Box

A FORMER telephone kiosk turned art gallery at Christchurch Gardens in Leamington is hosting its latest exhibition.

The organisers, Friends of Christchurch Gardens, met young artists Robyn and Maddie from nearby Arnold Lodge School as they installed their work, on the theme of books and reading, in The Art Box.

As well as their portraits of Alice Walker, author of The Colour Purple, and horror writer Stephen King, the Art Box is hosting a book sculpture by pupil Jaime.

The exhibition runs until May half term.

Friends group spokeswoman Alison Chantrey said: “We are delighted to host this newest exhibition by Arnold Lodge School pupils.

“It’s wonderful to see how each exhibition uses the space in a unique way. And it was a pleasure to meet Robyn and Maddie as they installed their work. Congratulations go to all three students on an excellent show.”

The Friends group, which is part of local charity, the Leamington Society, is made up of volunteers who are passionate about maintaining and improving the gardens for everyone’s benefit.
