Record turnout at Friends of Christchurch Gardens litter pick

Leamington Editorial 4th Apr, 2023   0

THERE was a record turnout for the latest Friends of Christchurch Gardens litter pick in Leamington on Saturday (April 1).

Warwick District Council Leader Coun Andrew Day joined 24 volunteers in their hi-viz tabards to pick several bags of litter from the Gardens, borders and surrounding pavements.

Friends Chair Alison Chantrey said it was a great community event, with several passers-by extending their thanks and taking the opportunity to admire the latest installation in Art Box – an exhibition inspired by “The Snail and the Whale”, courtesy of Year 2 pupils at St Paul’s Primary School.

She continued: “As always it was a convivial and rewarding occasion in an uplifting environment. New varieties of daffodils were coming into flower and trees were blossoming, while tennis and basketball players fully occupied the courts.”

Welcome warming refreshments were kindly provided by Holy Trinity Church.

The next pick is on May 8 from 10.30am as part of The Big Help Out in celebration of the Coronation. All are welcome.
