Recycling residents donate thousands to Guide Dogs

Leamington Editorial 23rd Dec, 2016   0

RECYCLING residents have donated more than £4,000 to Guide Dogs.

Since April, recycling centres across Warwickshire have collected enough unwanted textiles to donate ten per cent of profit on them to the Leamington-based charity.

Warwickshire County Council environment spokesman Coun Jeff Clarke said: “The textile recycling initiative is a fantastic chance to support a worthwhile charity and also to raise the profile of the excellent work being done to increase recycling in the county.”

Unwanted clean clothes, towels, sheets, blankets, curtains, bedding covers, paired shoes, bags and belts can all be handed in to recycling centres to continue raising money for Guide Dogs.

* GUIDE Dogs staff were delighted after winning a Leamington Business Award.

The charity scooped the National Business Award for their hard work training dogs, matching them with owners and raising funds for the charity.

Judges chose the charity for its ‘service, commitment and loyalty to their customers and presence within Leamington engaging with the community.’
