Residents invited to Leamington's annual town assembly

RESIDENTS are being invited to hear about the projects and initiatives taking place across Leamington town centre.

Chaired by mayor Coun Ruggy Singh, Leamington’s annual town assembly meeting will take place from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday March 12 in the Assembly Hall at the Royal Pump Rooms.

Attendees at the meeting will receive an update from the town council, will hear more about the work being undertaken to shape the future of the town centre, and will hear from Warwick District Council about a range of other initiatives and projects in the town.

Since last year’s town meeting, further work has been undertaken to identify possible improvements to the Parade. An extensive engagement exercise took place and received over 3,000 responses.

This has resulted in the production of a Concept Masterplan for the Parade. This is intended to create a place that will boost the economy, create a safer and accessible environment for visitors of all ages and reinforce the town’s Conservation Area status through its design.

The proposals are not finalised and will be subject to further design work and engagement with local people, businesses and organisations. The Town Assembly meeting offers an opportunity to hear more.

The town council is also working with its partners to submit an expression of interest for the Government’s Town of Culture competition. The meeting offers an opportunity to hear more.
