A THEATRE company is celebrating after its recent production raised more than £9,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital – bringing its three-year fundraising total to £20,000.
Raise the Roof was founded in memory of 11-year-old Annabel Greenhalgh from Warwick Gates, who died suddenly in 2022.
The company, which recently became part of Warwickshire Youth theatre, has produced three annual Christmas shows to raise funds – with the most recent, 2025’s A Christmas With Carol, raising £9,785.
The show – a musical inspired by Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, reimagined with music, laughter, and festive cheer – was performed at Bridge House Theatre, inWarwick, at the end of November.
Amelia Fewtrill Webster, CEO of Raise the Roof, said: “Our mission has always been to fundraise for Birmingham Children’s Hospital in Annabel’s memory through the joy of performance, and A Christmas with Carol was our latest chapter in this poignant fundraising journey.
“The show received a wonderful reception from audiences at Bridge House Theatre, and we’re delighted to have raised more than £9,000, bringing our total raised for this important cause to £20,000.”
Raise the Roof’s Christmas shows have all been sponsored by Leamington-based Blythe Liggins Solicitors. Donna Bothamley, partner at Blythe Liggins, said: “Huge congratulations to everyone involved in Raise the Roof for raising £20,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, it’s a wonderful achievement and a milestone to celebrate.
