Science extravaganza promised at Christmas university lectures

EXPLODING ping pong balls and plenty of fireworks are among the spectacles promised at this year’s Christmas Lectures at Warwick University.

The first lecture of the annual science extravaganza – entitled Pop, Fizz, Bang – will be packed with live experiments and explosions on Monday November 27.The second lecture, Red and Yellow and Pink and Green, will explore colour on Monday December 4.

Organiser Ally Caldecote said: “It’s so important to share the knowledge and enthusiasm that we have within the science faculty at Warwick. I am privileged to be surrounded by some of the world’s finest minds.

“I want to share with the public some of the awesome work that gets done here because it is mind bogglingly brilliant, and because it is a lot of fun.”

Tickets cost £3.50 – free for schools, youth groups and scouting and guiding groups. Both lectures start at 7pm.
