Scouts get messy to raise money

Leamington Editorial 18th Apr, 2017   0

IT WAS messy work raising money for the 2nd Warwick Sea Scouts’ new headquarters.

Youngsters from the group took on the ‘Mini Military Mud Run’ to toward the £650,000 needed to fund their much-needed new hut in St Nicholas Park.

But the 5k challenge wasn’t enough for nine year-old Abigail George who decided to take on the 9k course instead and earned her Silver Chief Scouts Award too.

And six year-old Hannah Bosworth pushed herself to do the 5k route instead of the shorter 2k and helped the group raise £500.

The scouts have raised over £130,000 so far and are urging people to help them continue their fundraising.
