South Warwickshire ambulances loaded with Christmas gifts arrive in Ukraine

THREE more ambulances have arrived in Ukraine from south Warwickshire – filled with Christmas gifts and medical supplies.

Ambulances 59, 60, and 61, funded by LKQ Euro Car Parts, Gursewak Trust, and the Warwickshire Freemasons, were filled with Christmas presents for children from refugee families and orphans, as well as vital medical supplies provided by Ukraine Medical Charity.

The gifts and medical supplies will be distributed by the Sisters of St Joseph.

Donations included chocolate from Leamington History Group, Kenilworth Lions and Lifestyle Gift Cards, five boxes of new children’s clothing from Boden and £500 from Warwick Rotary Club.

In Leżajsk, eastern Poland, the volunteer drivers met with officers of the Ukrainian army, who received the ambulances and promptly set off for eastern Ukraine, where they will be used to save lives as quickly as possible.

Volunteer Harnek Singh said: “It was a great adventure, but above all, it felt meaningful to have done something to make a real difference. It was humbling to meet the soldiers who travelled from the front line to meet us.”
