Summer activities for Warwick district youngsters on free school meals

PLENTY of activities for youngsters eligible for free school meals are being laid on across the district this summer.

As part of the national Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre in Leamington and St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre in Warwick will host an array of free activities, all accompanied by free lunches.

Both leisure centres are managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Warwick District Council.

Free Clip n Climb sessions will be available at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre, offering fun and challenging climbing experiences for children over the age of 11. Each session will last an hour and are taking place at 11am every day from Monday to Friday.

At St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre, children aged between 11 and 15-years-old will be able to take part in junior gym sessions for free. Those eligible will be able to join any of the regular scheduled sessions but will require a gym induction ahead of attending.

WDC’s leisure spokesperson Coun Jim Sinnott said: “It’s great to see that Everyone Active is participating in this excellent programme once again, providing local children with a chance to learn something new that can build their confidence during the school holidays.

“In addition, it’s a welcome boost for families who are struggling with the cost of food and entertainment for their children over the summer.”
