THE GREEN Party have pulled off a surprising win in the Leamington Clarendon town by-election.
The party finished fourth in the town centre ward as recently as last September, but the Green candidate Kiran Crawford was elected on Thursday July 16 in a tight contest.
The margin of victory was just 23 votes, ahead of the Lib Dems with Labour down into third place.
Coun Kiran Crawford said: “Thank you to everyone who came out to vote and for the other parties for being fair and respectful. I will serve as a councillor in the way I campaigned – positive, practical and committed to supporting all our communities in Clarendon.”
The by-election was called after a Labour town councillor resigned due to ill health.
