Tails wagging at Dogs Trust Fun Day

DOG lovers were out in force to enjoy the Dogs Trust fun day.

Thousands of two and four-legged friends descended on Hatton Country World to take part in shows, peruse the stalls and enjoy a range of tasty treats.

Competition judges included Observer deputy editor Laura Kearns, vet David Walker from the Leamington-based Rainsbrook practice and comedian Vicki Stone.

Some of the prizes included best ears, waggiest tail, best coat and best treat catcher.

Best oldest dog went to 13 year-old Shadow – a black Labrador who was rehomed from the centre a year ago.

And winner of ‘Best Kenilworth Rescue Dog’ went to ten year-old Patrick who was adopted from the centre some years ago. The crossbreed was recently diagnosed with cancer but his family say they are determined to give him the best life – which includes wearing his ‘best dog’ rosette with pride.

The annual fun day raises thousands of pounds for the charity, who cares for some 200 abandoned and stray dogs at its Kenilworth centre.
