Teenage boy left seriously injured after alleged weapon attack in Leamington

A TEENAGE boy suffered serious injuries after being allegedly attacked with a weapon outside a shopping centre in Leamington.

Police were called out following an alleged assault which took place on St Margarets Road at 1.20pm on Sunday January 14.

A fight was reported to have taken place outside the shopping centre, during which the victim was alleged to have been attacked with a weapon.

The victim, a teenage boy, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.




The incident necessitated a scene guard, which was taken down at 3:50pm.

A 16-year-old male from Birmingham was arrested on Monday (January 15) in relation to this incident.


He was arrested on suspicion of wounding.

Inspector Jem Mountford from Warwick District Safer Neighbourhood Team said “Thank you to everyone who has assisted with our enquiries so far. We have made an arrest in relation to this incident, and we don’t believe there is any wider risk to the public at this time.

“I hope that our response today demonstrates that we will never tolerate violence in our community, and will always act quickly to investigate, identify suspects, and uphold our responsibilities as part of the justice system.”

Enquiries are ongoing.
