THE SUN shone as Warwick’s annual Thai Festival celebrated its 20th birthday.
Thousands attended the two day Warwick Rotary Club organised festival at the racecourse where they enjoyed a true taste of Thailand, from authentic cuisine to traditional dancing to kick boxing, together with prayers and blessings by Buddhist Monks.
Rotary president Jon Wassall told the crowds Warwick Rotary had worked with people in Thai people since the Tsunami in 2004 when it started the annual festival of culture and food to raise money to help orphans. The festival also enabled aid to be sent to Thailand during the pandemic.
Warwick mayor Jackie D’Arcy welcomed visitors and opened proceedings, and Warwick and Leamington MP Matt Western, recently appointed Trade Envoy to Thailand, was there to do some homework and chat with stallholders and visitors.
Rotary thanked the racecourse, 2nd Warwick Sea Scouts for parking the cars, and sponsors Startin Kia and Warwick Castle.
Organiser Alan Bailey said” “It was good to meet up again, and it was clear that England and Thailand were having a great time in Warwick this weekend re-kindling our friendships”.
