A TRIBUTE bench has been unveiled in memory of a stalwart of Leamington Park Run
Kate Jackson – known affectionately to Leamington parkrunners as ‘Mrs Doyle’ – volunteered nearly 500 times over ten years at the ever-popular event.
Kate, who passed away just before Christmas in 2020, served tea, coffee, cake and Irish banter to participants and other volunteers, with the odd sneaky biscuits for the dogs and sweets for the youngsters.
One of her favourite ever visitors to her little cafe was the legendary athlete Dave Moorcroft, and the former 5,000 metres world record holder cut the ribbon at the bench ceremony at Newbold Comyn.
Dave shared his fond memories of Kate, which included how she would usher him to the front of the queue whenever she saw him.
