Two more arrests in Warwick district during drink drive crackdown

TWO men from Warwick district have been arrested on suspicion of drink driving as part of Warwickshire Police’s summer crackdown.

A 23-year-old man from Little Kineton was arrested at 5.25am on Sunday (August 21) after officers were called to a collision which left his truck on its side and damage to two other vehicles in George Street, Leamington. He was arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving before being released pending further enquries.

And a 43-year-old man from Whitnash was arrested at 12.43am on Sunday (August 21) in Landor Road after driving past officers at speed in his VW Golf. When he was stopped by officers, he failed a roadside breath test. He was later charged with drink driving and is currently scheduled to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court on September 30.

The drink drive operation continues throughout the summer. Officers including Warwickshire Police’s Operational Patrol Unit, Special Constabulary and Safer Neighbourhood Teams will be conducting roadside checks and mobile patrols.




All drivers that are involved in a collision will be asked to provide a road side breath test and drug swipe and officers are also asking the public to report the details of suspected drink or drug drivers to them.
