Two Stratford bank staff members rescued from locked ATM

TWO staff members got more than they were banking on when they went into work at Stratford’s Coventry Building Society on Saturday morning (July 5).

A full 999 rescue mission took place to free them from after they became locked in the ATM area of the bank.

Both Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue service responded to the  999 calls made by the two women.

Stratford police explained that the initial call to the building society branch in Wood Street was reported as ‘concern for welfare’. On arrival, they found that two women were “locked in an ATM”.

Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to get them out.

Speaking about the incident, Stratford Police posted on Facebook: “I bet they weren’t banking on that when they went into work this morning but a Mint job all round.”

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service added: “Well we didn’t expect to withdraw two staff from an ATM today, but hey – we’re here for all your emergencies. Happy we could help.”
