VJ Day to be commemorated in Warwick district

Leamington Editorial 13th Aug, 2020 Updated: 14th Aug, 2020   0

WARWICK District Council and the Royal British Legion will mark the 75th anniversary of VJ Day.

Commemoration services will be held in the Fusiliers Chapel of St Mary’s Church in Warwick and the Royal Leamington Spa War Memorial in Euston Place on Saturday (August 15)

The event is being held to mark VJ Day – Victory over Japan – and the end of the Second World War.

Coun Martyn Ashford said: “While we are unable to mark this anniversary with the larger scale events originally planned, we hope people across the district will take a few minutes out of their day to remember and recognise all those who served and sacrificed in the Far East and ultimately brought an end to the Second World War.”

The event in Euston Place is by invite only.
