Volunteer prepares pup for next chapter of his life by reading to him

A LITERARY-loving dog has come on leaps and bounds since a volunteer began reading to him.

Four-year-old golden retriever Alfie is currently at Dogs Trust in Kenilworth where he struggles to be on his own.

But volunteer Annie Wilson has discovered a routine of reading to him each day helps him settle and is building his confidence.

Since learning of his love for literacy, Alfie has learnt to relax and enjoys nothing more than snuggling up with a good book.

Rehoming centre manager Emma Healey said: “Spending time with dogs, doing relaxing activities, such as reading, can be really beneficial for their socialisation. Alfie loves human company and struggles to be left on his own so by reading to him, it helps him to settle and we hope that by doing this, it’ll help him to cope better in a new home environment.
