Wag and Walk helps raise cash for new Warwick community centre

DOG walkers put their best foot forward in Warwick to raise cash for a much-needed new community centre.

Priory Pools hosted its first ever Wag and Walk on Sunday October 5, raising £100.

The cash will go towards the new Priory Pools Community Centre, which will be bigger and better than the current Packmores Community Centre.

It will have a large hall and smaller rooms to hire out, allowing more clubs, activities and societies to take place. There will be a permanent food pantry and a new community cafe too.

Simon Pargeter, chair of Priory Area Community Group, said: ‘We were delighted to welcome 16 friendly furry friends (and owners) who all enjoyed a sunny stroll around Priory Pools area, with a photo stop by the amazing Black Labrador mural next to the railway underpass.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us. They all seemed to love our certificates and rosettes. It’s amazing what we can do when we come together and have fun as a community, and hope that we can do this again and raise even more money for Priory Pools Community Centre. We hope to run one again in December so watch this space.”

So far £1.7 million has been raised for the new centre, which will cost £2 million to build.
