WARWICKSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service has welcomed nearly 30 new recruits.
It is the biggest intake of firefighters the service has recruited in nearly a decade.
The hunt for new recruits began in April and the service received more than 700 applications from would-be firefighters. The successful applicants were formally inducted into the service on September 1.
Chief fire officer Andy Hickmott said: “This is the first time we have recruited so many firefighters at once. They are starting a very long, but exciting journey into what I feel is a very privileged career.”
The new recruits will undertake a 12-week training course, which covers everything from breathing apparatus, road traffic collisions, hazardous materials and, of course live firefighter training.
