White transit van stolen from delivery driver in Kenilworth

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a robbery that saw a white Transit van stolen from a delivery driver whilst he was working in Kenilworth on Monday (July 18).

A man in his 50s was making deliveries in the van on Coventry Road at around 12.40pm when the theft took place.

He had just left his van to make a delivery when an unknown offender is reported to have got into it and tried to drive off.

The victim attempted to stop him through an open window but was thrown from the van as the suspect drove away towards Coventry.

Shortly afterwards, the van crashed into a ditch and the suspect left the area on foot. He is described as a white man, in his 20s, tanned, of stocky build with short brown hair.

The victim was taken to hospital but was later discharged having suffered leg injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Enquiries are currently ongoing and Warwickshire Police is asking anyone who witnessed the initial robbery or the collision to get in touch, particularly if anyone has dashcam footage.

Anyone with information should report it online or call 101 quoting incident 295 of 18 July.

Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
