A WOMAN was hit in the face and had her handbag stolen as she walked in Leamington.

The woman in her 20s was taking a short cut through Newbold Comyn golf course from Gresham Avenue around 7pm on Sunday (June 7).

But as she approached the wooded area from Campion Hill towards the golf course, she was approached by a man, who struck her to the face and snatched her handbag, which contained her purse.

The man is described as around 5ft 3in, of medium build and in his early 20s.

He had shaven black hair and was wearing a black jacket and black trousers.
