Work starts on new £4million GP surgery

Leamington Editorial 11th Mar, 2018   0

WORK has begun on a new £4million state-of-the-art medical centre in Wellesbourne.

The GP surgery, which is set to open next year, is being built on Dog Close in the centre of the village.

It will be more than three times the size of the current Hastings House practice and be used by doctors, nurses and community healthcare providers.

Senior partner Dr Martin Read-Jones said the move had been made possible by the help of Lodders solicitors, the trustess of Walton Estate in Wellebourne, South Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS England and Persimmon Homes, which is building a 350-home development in the village.

The GP said: “I believe the new centre is an important step for future-proofing healthcare provision in the area.

“The project will secure the provision of primary healthcare services in Wellesbourne for the next generation and beyond, to support an expanding village community and its growing population.

“With a facility three times the size of the current practice, we can now look to expand our team of doctors and healthcare professionals within the next two years.”
