Young actors take on Rome

Leamington Editorial 18th Jul, 2017   0

ASPIRING young actors are starting at the top by treading the boards of the RSC’s world-famous Stratford stage in the current season of Rome plays.

Sebastian Dibb,13, from Leamington, Will Parsons, 14, from Leamington and Luca Saraceni-Gunne, 13, from Stratford are sharing the role of Young Lucius in Titus Andronicus.

Luca is also part of the cast for Julius Caesar, along with Tom Lomas, 11, from Leamington and Sam Littell,12, from Little Kineton sharing the role of Lucius.

Sebastian, a pupil at Warwick School, is somewhat of an RSC veteran. This will be his fourth production with the company, having performed in The Shoemaker’s Holiday, Hecuba and Julius Caesar.

It is the first RSC performance for Will, who goes to Myton School, and Tom, who is just finishing year six at Crackley Hall school in Kenilworth.

The boys are understandably excited to be stepping onto the famous stage. Tom said: “I have always loved theatre so it is a dream come true to be acting in Julius Caesar.”

Will added: “It is an amazing experience. Everyone is so kind and helpful. I love working with the actors and learning about the theatre, and I am really enjoying being on stage.”

The boys in Titus Andronicus are taking to the stage alongside RSC veteran David Troughton who plays the title role.

Titus Andronicus runs until September 2 and Julius Caesar until September 9. The boys share their roles, appearing at alternate performances.
