Youngsters can play at Kenilworth park after all

YOUNGSTERS will be able to enjoy the play area at Kenilworth’s Abbey Fields over the summer.

It has reopened for the school holidays despite on-going archaeological investigations.

Extensive remains of medieval monastic buildings were made ahead of a major re-development of the swimming pool.

Warwick District Council is now working with Historic England to determine how best to preserve and record what has been found and the implications this could have on the design of the new swimming pool building.

The play area has been open at weekends only during the demolition and was initially planned to remain that way until construction had been completed.

But with building work slowed by the discovery, the play area is fully open again – although there may be times it could be closed to as construction on the new pool continues.

WDC aims to provide updates on its social media channels whenever closures will last longer than a few minutes.
