TERRORISM, speeding, murder and hate crime were just some scenarios investigated by youngsters who experienced life in the police for a day.

As part of the Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Challenge across England which gives young people a voice in the adult world, Warwickshire Police invited young people to spend the day investigating offences at the Justice Centre in Leamington.

They also donned hi-vis jackets and carried out speed checks..

Supt Kevin Purcell said: “The Takeover Challenge gives us the opportunity to have feedback from young people about our work and to even gain insights into where we might need to review our processes.

“It is an excellent day that creates some real energy and fun.

“The children involved make us think again about things from their perspective.

“It also gives officers and staff a chance to communicate messages to young people in a way that is fun and engaging.”
