Youngsters urged to get artistic before cycling tour rolls into town

WHEELY-inspired youngsters are being urged to get artistic.

Warwickshire will again be staging a leg of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour which will see some of the world’s best women cyclists pedalling 150km from Atherstone to the finishing line on Leamington’s Parade on Friday June 15.

And Warwickshire County Council is asking primary school children from across the county to design the start flag for the event and the Warwickshire stage winner trophy.

The winner of the flag competition will get the chance to start the race, while the trophy competition will present their trophy to the winning cyclist, while the winner




Council managing director Monica Fogarty said: “We are thrilled that the OVO Energy Women’s Tour is returning to Warwickshire once again for the third year running.

“The event has fast become one of the highlights in the Warwickshire calendar and that is why we want to celebrate it anyway possible and the competitions are the perfect way to get children involved.


“They are a great way to encourage young people to get creative and be part of such as a massive event.

“Each year schools have been extremely supportive of the design competition and the race and we would urge them to get involved once again.”
