AS THE start of the 2015 motorsport season gets nearer Southam’s Alex Sedgwick’s preparations have been boosted after American DRIVEN Race Group announced they will be backing the young karting stat in the new year.

The 15-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful first season racing in the BTCC Ginetta Junior Championship.

And his performances have caught the eye thousands of miles away in North Carolina.

The American-based company DRIVEN Race Group, who already supports some of America’s top racing drivers, announced at the Autosport International Motorsport show at the NEC that they will be supporting Sedgwick in 2015.

The Driven Race Group produces a range of high quality bespoke race equipment from safety equipment and carbon fibre race helmets to customised bespoke steering wheels and racing sunglasses.

“I am looking forward to working with them and putting Southam on the map in North Carolina,” said Sedgwick, who is finalising his plans to compete again in the Ginetta Junior Championship alongside his GCSE studies.

“Having the chance to work with DRIVEN really shows that if you work hard there is no limit to the opportunities it can open up.

“2015 is going to be a busy year and I will be aiming to make it successful both on and off the track.”
