ATHLETICS: A BUSY weekend of action saw plenty of Spa Striders in action across the country with Anne Hurrell tasting success in her age group at the Baldock Beast Half Marathon.
Hurrell ran the Hertfordshire-based event in a time fast enough to finish as the quickest runner in the V34 category and fifth overall.
Saturday saw Andrew Graham compete in the Rhyl 10-mile event where he finished 15th overall in a time of 1:05.42.
Both Helen Forrest and Richard Bicknell completed the very muddy 15-mile Belvoir Challenge.
There were personal best (PB) times for Rich Sykes (40.33) and Matt Leydon (43.34) at the notoriously flat and fast Bourton 10km.
Female Striders were represented by Clare Hinton (43.58) and Lucy Tugwell (47.45) who narrowly missed out on a PB.
Five Striders braved the winds to complete the Draycote 10km event with Jim Wiberley (45:12) leading the team and he was closely followed by Kelsey Wiberley (45.14) who finished as the third fastest female.
Fresh from their recent ultra-marathon success, Claire Westrope narrowly missed out on a PB at Draycote by finishing in 54.31, while Kathleen McCann (59:13) and Gary Perkins (01:01:05) also competed.
