HOCKEY: KERRY Luckett scored a brace as Leamington Ladies picked up where they left off before the Christmas break by comfortably dispatching Boots 4-1.
The league’s high-flyers marked their return from the winter break with another win thanks to a brace from Luckett and both Dani Black and Lucy Miszkwoska also got their names on the scoresheet.
The result keeps Leamington in second place in the league table – one point off the top – with a trip to third-placed University of Birmingham to come this weekend.
Elsewhere in the ladies’ section, the second team emphatically got back to winning ways with a 7-1 demolition of Long Buckby.
A hat-trick from Jeanette Lloyd, as well as goals from Charlie Quayle, Laura McTernan, Kirby Harris and Rachael Graham kept Leamington in fourth place in the league.
It was not such a good day at the office for the ladies’ third team who slipped to a 5-1 defeat at Edgbaston, while the fourth team were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Long Buckby.
In the men’s section, Leamington recorded a vital 3-2 at Solihull Blossomfield.
Goals from Tom Elliot, Rob Palmer and Saleem Zuberi secured Leamington’s second victory of the season, a result that moved them off the bottom of the league table.
The men’s second team were also victorious, beating Atherstone 2-0 to stay in joint second place in the league table.
