HOCKEY: IT WAS a mixed bag of results for Leamington’s ladies sides on Saturday as they returned to league action for the first time since December.
The second team had a comfortable run-out, easing past Solihull Blossomfield with a 3-0 home victory, thanks to goals from Sarah Gambling, Kirby Harris and Jess Coleshill.
It was Leamington’s third win in five games and moved them up to fourth place in the table.
The third team had a much tougher start to 2017 though, losing 4-1 away to Sutton Coldfield. Finding themselves 3-0 down at half time, Leamington might have let the floodgates open, but a much-improved second half will give them encouragement for next week.
Completing the full set of league result for Leamington, the fourth team drew 3-3 with Olton and West Warwickshire, in a topsy-turvy match.
Goals from Juliette Carter and Bryony Wilson gave Leamington a 2-1 lead at half time, before finding themselves 3-2 down. However, Lucy Strange’s equaliser rescued a point with ten minutes to go.
Although they weren’t in league action, the ladies kept things ticking over with a 4-0 friendly victory against Banbury.
The men’s section resume their league campaigns this weekend.
