Batting collapse costs Hunningham as Dunlop chase down small target

CRICKET: HUNNINGHAM experienced a weekend of mixed fortunes as the club’s first team slipped to an away defeat while the 2nd’s won at home.

A low scoring game at Dunlop saw the 1st XI post a lowly score of 95 with Richard Pettifer (24) and Charles Wale (17) providing the only credible opposition.

Dunlop’s two spinners took nine wickets between them.

Dunlop made hard work of their 96 target as they lost wickets at regular intervals – mainly due to the threat of Mark Maskell who claimed a five wicket haul.

However Dunlop edged over the line after reaching 96 for the loss of eight wickets.

Hunningham’s 2nd XI enjoyed better fortunes at home against West Indian Wanderers to move joint top of the Warwickshire Division Nine East.

Captain Bird inserted WIW into bat, the visiting side posted 186/5 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Hunningham chased down the target with five overs to spare and four wickets in hand – Staniforth (36) and Bird (37) impressed with the bat.
