FOOTBALL: AN unbeaten league run in October earned Brakes boss Paul Holleran the Vanarama National League North October Manager of the Month award.
A potentially difficult month for Brakes – at a time when they were already sitting low in the relegation zone – proved successful for Holleran’s men as they scrapped to wins against Salford and North Ferriby while drawing against York and table toppers Harrogate.
Their win against Salford ended their 11-game unbeaten run.
The win was followed up by a 2-2 home draw against former Football League club York City before another 2-2 draw against Harrogate.
Brakes then defeated FA Trophy winners North Ferriby United 3-0 at home, making it a total of eight points gained in a hugely successful month.
Holleran said: “I am delighted to receive this award that reflects upon the efforts of all the management team and players.
“We have worked hard to turn around a difficult start to the season and the trophy is a small recognition of that hard work.
“We can’t slacken off as the quality of teams in this league make it a very unforgiving one and we need to maintain the standards of the past two months.”
