RUGBY UNION: KENILWORTH Ladies coach Tim Burden is hoping an improved focus on strength and skills can lead to improved results on the pitch this season.

As the club prepares to mark two years since the ladies team was founded, the past 24 months have seen unprecedented growth in playing numbers and in player abilities.

After gaining promotion into the National Challenge Midlands Division One, the squad are now looking to build on previous successes to ensure they maintain a competitive edge going into the league.

Coach Burden said: “We ran two teams last season.

“In order for us to do better this season, we must have strengthen our position in terms of skills and we must also get stronger.”

Burden’s aims has led to the introduction of two strength and conditioning experts – who will be putting the ladies through their paces over the next two months.

The strength and conditioning element will see specific rugby based sessions put on for the ladies once a week as well as tailored training plans to be completed by each player to improve physical strength, mobility and endurance.

While the club strives for success in the Midland League Division One, they are also on the lookout for new players to join the team.

Training takes place at the Glasshouse Lane venue every Tuesday and Wednesday evening (7pm).
