ATHLETICS: SPA Striders triathletes were racing across the country at the weekend.

Lorraine Parsons completed her second triathlon in two weeks by completing the Cholmondeley Castle event in 3hrs 3mins 57secs.

Elsewhere Chris McKeown took on a challenging swim and high winds on the bike leg to complete the St Neots Triathlon in 3hrs 10mins 41secs.

Both were olympic-distance events.

Mike (1hr 27mins 15secs) and Helen Pugh (2hrs 10mins 53secs) completed the Swansea Half Marathon while Jamie Phillips ran a PB with 39.46 at the Whythall 10k.

Striders were also out in force at the annual pink park run this week with 30 members doing between one and four laps of the course.

Course PBs were recorded for Paul Edwards and Gareth Williams.

In mid-week racing, Dave Lindsay completed the Weedon 10k in 47mins 11secs.

Local runners also took advantage of pleasant recent conditions by travelling to the Dolomites for the North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail.

Stephen Hundal (Leam C&AC) tackled the 21k ‘skyrace’, completing the 1000m ascent course in 2hrs 36mins 7secs.

Bethan Gwynn of Spa Striders took on the 48k Cortina Trail, completing the 2600m ascent course in 7hrs 33mins 25secs while Rich Merrell and Jack Gammon faced the toughest challenge.

The pair completed 120k of technical trails which included 5800m ascent, and crossed the finish line in 20hrs 38mins 45secs and 25hrs 47mins 31secs respectively.
