BOXING: CLEARYS fighter Jordan Kendall enjoyed a successful weekend in Wales.

After a two-and-a-half hour drive, Jordan faced Blackwood ABC’s Zack Hitchman.

Dominating every round, Jordan showed his class and forced Hitchman on the back foot – impressing boxing coach Adam Blockley who said the youngster did every right in the ring.

As a novice, travelling to Wales straight from school displayed Jordan’s desire to succeed.

The weekend didn’t stop there though as Jordan caught a few hours sleep before attending an Open Talent Day in Oxford.

The youngster did well considering the day lasted six hours before he returned to the gym on Monday with a spring in his step.

Clearys owner Edwin Cleary said: “I’m hoping now Jordan will push on with Clearys’ home show Saturday (May 20).

“Jordan’s a very special talent.

“Already in his five contests, Jordan has boxed this season’s national champion and really took it to him.

“Boxing’s on a high after Anthony Joshua’s fight with reports all over the UK of gym numbers booming.

“Boxing’s not easy and these kids need to be pushed.

“We build fighters not records and in the long run the kids will benefit.”

One of Clearys’ most talented fighters Josh Finch also attending the talent day. He will next be in action at the club’s home show on May 20.
