ANDREW Cooknell was the first Spa Strider to finish in this weekend’s Leamington parkrun, coming 19th in 19:58. Next up was Justin Mallard who was 51st in 21:52.
Nadine Lee was the first Strider lady to finish and was the fourth lady overall in 22:07.
Other Strider results: Neil Butcher 66th in 22:32, Bethan Gwynn 67th in 22:35, Jonathan Pool 83rd in 23:23, John Gahrs 86th in 23:33, David Evans 203rd in 29:30 and Beth Gawthorpe 204th in 29:33.
SATURDAY evening saw the staging of the Stratford Summer 6 and Spa Striders had a strong men’s and ladies’ team.
The first Strider home was Will Johnson, who finished 20th overall in 36:28. He was followed by Andrew Graham, 29th overall in 36:57, Paul Edwards, 35th in 37:21 and Tim Down, 38th in 37:44.
Jo Kirby was the first Strider lady home and the fourth lady overall in 38:40, closely followed by Mel Venable, the fifth lady and the first F35 in 38:48.
The pair ran most of the race together, and along with Caroline Whitehouse, the 16th lady, ensured Spa Strider ladies gained maximum points in the team scores for the Warwickshire Road Race League. Jude Baum took another F55 title in a time of 45:52.

THREE Spa Striders took part in Sunday’s gruelling Ironman Austria, which consists of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle and a 26.2-mile run and took place in Klagenfurt and is described as one of the most beautiful races in the world.
Richard Shephard finished 773rd in 10:48:32, Rich Sykes completed the event 1,416th in 11:50:03 and Jackie Lindsay finished 1,678th, but was 149th woman in 12:22:37.
