LONG serving Great Britain forward Russell Cowley has committed his future to Blaze after putting pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with the Elite League side.

Russell as signed a new deal which will keep him at the Skydome for a further season and his 14th in total

He will once again line-up alongside Brian Stewart, Jim Jorgensen, Ross Venus plus Ashley Tait and Cale Tanaka who are entering into the second year of their two-year contracts for the 2015/16 campaign.

“It was key for us to re-sign Russell for another year,” said Blaze director of hockey operations James Pease.

“He brings leadership, a wealth of experience and a winning mentality.

“Russ (Cowley) is a great two-way player and also as the ability to jump back on D when needed.

“He has been part of many championship winning teams and knows what winning is all about. We will be looking to Russ to help steer us to more silverware in the 2015-16 season.”

Young forward Ross Venus has also put pen-to-paper on a new one year contract which will keep him at the club for a sixth successive season after coming through the Blaze acadamy system.

Pease added: “Ross has had a good year for the Blaze, and has shown that he can play in all situations.

“Ross has a big summer workout programme in place to prepare him for the new season to take his game to the next level.”
