OPENER Jacob Sargent top scored with the bat as Leamington CC secured a winning draw against West Bromwich Dartmouth.

Sargent recorded a half-century while Jonathan Wigley, Jason Jakeman and Harrison Smith all scored well with the bat to help Leamington reach 254-9 at Sandwell Park.

And Leamington restricted the home side to 170-6 in reply at the end of their 55 overs to take 15 points from the fixture while West Brom came away with eight points.

The result means Leamington sit seventh in the Birmingham Premier League Premier Division Tow table.

Leamington won the toss and elected to bat as openers Smith (37) and Sargeant (75) put on 62 runs for the first wicket.

Smith eventually fell to the bowling of Krish Chauhan (1-14) as Sargeant and captain Wigley (49) combined for a 101-run second-wicket partnership.

Sargeant faced 125 balls and scored nine boundaries before Tim Maxfield (2-86) eventually removed the Leamington opener.

A flurry of wickets followed as Ateeq Javid (3-94) removed Chris Calcott (2) and Will Richardson (9) while Maxfield returned to deny Wigley a half-century.

Javid struck again with the wicket of James Hawkins (9) although Jakeman (44 not out) added useful runs in an entertaining 42-ball knock.

Recordo Gordon (3-34) took three late wickets as Leamington closed on 254-9 at the end of their 55 overs.

The visitors took an early wicket with the ball as Oscar Reynolds (1-11) removed Dannyjo Cox (7) in the fourth over of the West Brom innings.

And Shailan Srikanthan (3-51) accounted for Mohammed Usman Tahir (7) and Kobe Herft (0) as the home side slipped to 53-3 in the 16th over.

Opener Bruce Thomason (69) scored a patient half-century in an 82-ball innings before Srikanthan returned to claim his third scalp.

And Jakeman (2-30) took the wickets of Javid (15) and Billy-J Cox (13) as the visitors restricted the home side to 170-6 to claim a winning draw.
