FOOTBALL: LEAMINGTON were sent crashing out of the Southern League Challenge Cup after being thrashed 4-0 by rivals Stratford Town in the second round of the competition on Tuesday evening.

Mike Taylor fired the home side into a 19th minute lead after beating Tony Breedon with a low finish and two goals in the space of three minutes before half-time gave Leamington a mountain to climb after the break.

Grocott’s first saw him round Breedon and slot the ball home into an empty net on 25 minutes and just two minutes later he beat the Leamington goalkeeper again to score a third.

The result was wrapped up just three minutes into the second half when Richard Gregory came off the bench to score Stratford’s fourth and final goal from the penalty spot to complete a satisfying evening for Carl Adams’ side.

It could have been worse for Leamington after Ahenkorah struck the post and Gregory forced Breedon into an excellent save late on.
