DARTS - Warwickshire romp to impressive win against Merseyside

WARWICKSHIRE’s County Youth darts players thrashed Merseyside 11-2 as the county ended their three-month wait for a home fixture at Radford Social Club in style.

And Warwickshire made a winning start as Krystal O’Connor impressed on home debut to win a tight game 3-2 with a 12.28 average.

However, Merseyside levelled the game with a 3-1 win against Warwickshire club captain Isobel Gash who averaged 12.82 only for her opponent to throw some great darts and take the victory.

Warwickshire responded to win the ladies section 2-1 as Kacie O’Connor eased to a 3-0 win with a 14.18 average as she hit doubles at the perfect time.




The under-18’s were up next as Ben Gamble kicked off the section with a superb 3-1 victory against a tough opponent and finished with an impressive 22.86 average.

And Harley Bennett then took no time at all to win 3-0 in a professional performance which included a 116 checkout as he averaged 19.26.


Mitch Richardson claimed an eighth successive win with an easy 3-0 victory and checked out 100 as he finished with a 21.26 average to remain unbeaten this season.

Merseyside registered their second point of the match with a 3-0 success against Charlie Moreton as the Warwickshire player averaged 19.36 compared to his opponent’s 20.31.

In the final game of the section, Owen Quinn stepped up from the reserves and secured a 3-0 win with a 15.82 average to seal a 4-1 win for the under-18’s and stretch Warwickshire’s lead in the fixture to 6-2.

Warwickshire required just a single victory from the under-21’s section to win the fixture overall and Campbell O’Hagan Cooper sealed the deal with an impressive 21.78 average in a 3-0 success.

And Harry Franklin produced one of his best performances in a county shirt with a superb 25.05 average in another 3-0 win.

Up next was Alfie Busby, sponsored by Target, who showed his star potential to win 3-0 with a 27.33 average which included a 180 and 15-dart leg.

And Harry Earp increased Warwickshire’s lead with some steady scoring and impressive finishing to win 3-0 with a 20.88 average as he threw three hundred’s and two 140’s.

The last game saw Keelan Dockerty win 3-1 with a bullseye finish as he started with a 137 and then hit 100 and 125 in the fourth leg to wrap up the victory as he needed just a single dart to hit the bull.

For the reserves, Emmie O’Connor was beaten 3-0 with an 8.92 average whilst debutant Maya won the first two legs before she eventually fell to a 3-2 defeat with an impressive 11.65 average.

And Kian was also beaten 3-2 with a 16.47 average as he scored two 140’s, 123, 125 and three hundred’s whilst Sam Matthews secured a 3-0 win with a 14.45 average.

Luke Morris impressed in his 3-1 victory with a 16.09 average as he hit scores of 170, 140, 125 and 100 before Jenson made the step up from the Senior B side and was narrowly beaten 3-2 despite a 26.31 average having hit scores of 180, 140, 135, 125, 121 and 100.

Warwickshire are next in action away at local rivals Worcestershire on Sunday, April 23.
