IT HAS been a summer to remember for the ladies section of Leamington Tennis Club after three teams all topped their resepctive divisions to earn promotion.
The fifth, third and second teams were all triumphant after finishing top and in addition to this the sixth team, which only formed last year, came within a few points of also earning promotion.
The fourth team consolidated their position after winning promotion last year and the first team came within two points of claiming the title at the top of Division One despite having to re-group after a couple of early season injuries to key players.
A seperate team, which included players from the top two sides, also entered into the Aegon Team Tennis in the Warwickshire County Open Division One.
And after topping their group they have now also won promotion next year to the Regional Open Tier.
“This has been a really special year to be involved with ladies tennis at Leamington,” said team captain Sara Butler.
“Every team has achieved what we set out to do and I am delighted four of our teams who have topped their divisions.
“We have welcomed new players to the club who have been pivotal in some of these results, playing alongside long standing members.
“I am also delighted that the squads have included five juniors who started their tennis careers at Leamington – I am so proud of everyone involved.”
