Excitement as new Wildmoor Spa season nears

Leamington Editorial 24th Feb, 2018   0

A NEAR record entry of 47 teams is expected at the AGM of the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League.

It also announced a takeover of the second year of a renewed three-year deal which was made in 2017 with original owner Anthony Bird.

This has been honoured for 2018 by the new owner, TV Dragon Duncan Bannatyne who has renamed his premises The Bannatyne Spa & Health Club Wildmoor.

The final year 2019, which had been agreed with the previous owner is to be reviewed by the current owner at the end of the season.

The League’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday from 7.30pm at the Bidford Bowling Club, Salford Road.

With the Premier League and Divisions One to Five, the league remains at six divisions.

This is the fifth year of sponsorship by the Wildmoor Club.

The Men’s Doubles Summer Tennis League covers the South Warwickshire and district areas of the Midlands including parts of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire and also stages an inter-league Charity Cup Final between the winners of this league and the Winter League.

The league also celebrates its 15th season running a Junior League, which begins a month earlier in March and will consist of 16 teams divided into four pools.

This year the Wildmoor League will donate the Charity Cup trophies while the £100 main prize to the charity of choice by the team that wins the Charity Cup Final will be donated by the Winter League.

This will be the 17th Charity Cup Final and will be held on Sunday, September 2 at Alcester Tennis Club, alongside the Wildmoor League’s annual presentations.

The Summer League president Tony King has once again promised financial backing for the Charity Cup Final and Junior Cup Final, which will be held alongside each other.

The ball sponsors for the Charity Cup, Junior Cup Final and Junior Semi-Final Play-Offs are once again ‘Inspire2Coach’ based at Warwick University.

All clubs wishing to enter the league in 2018 are required, under the rules, to send a representative to the meeting.
