A FIFTH successive victory for Old Leamingtonians Under-18s saw them book their place in the third round of the National Colts Cup after beating Worcester Wanderers 36-12.

Playing in the shadow of the Sixways stadium, home of the Warriors, OLs produced a performance fit for the setting against a physically imposing home side.

Wanderers scored the opening try on seven minutes but OLs did not panic and were ahead in the 14th minute when Jamie Reynolds scored and Callum Semple was successful with an excellent conversion.

The visitors dominated for the rest of the first half but they were thwarted by the Wanderers defence, but they remained patient and were able to extend their lead before the break.

First Reynolds scored his second try of the match before George Parker broke through the line before offloading to Alex Witchell to score on the half-time whistle to give his side a 19-5 lead.

Wanderers made quick use of the slope after the break and scored a converted try to bring them to within a single score.

But any hopes of a comeback faded immediately as Jordi Pocknell dribbled through allowing Witchell to collect and score his second try under the sticks and Charlie Curtis added the extras.

There was still time for Reynolds to score his hat-trick and the icing on the cake was provided with the last move of the match when a flowing move ended with Matthew Woodhouse sprinting through for a final try in the left corner.

The next round of the competition will take place on the weekend of November 12/13.
